This project started as the Hartman Initiative for Value-Generative AI and was “inspired” by too many news stories about how generative AI, as it exists today, lacks a meaningful foundation upon which to empower, support, and uphold the intrinsic value of humanity. The project has evolved and is now being launched as an independent For Public Benefit Corporation: The Institute for Value-Generative AI.

In the absence of a sound ethical and moral foundation, AI has unwittingly supported and advised people to do horrible things, including committing suicide. In fact, thought leaders in the AI field, such as Geoffrey Hinton, have suggested that if AI is not instilled with “maternal instincts,” it could wipe out the human race.

Billions of dollars are being spent to solve what is known as “The AI Alignment Problem” – the fact that AI is NOT ALIGNED with human values and well-being. It’s a significant problem!

We have developed a ground-breaking, patent-pending solution that the AI world does not yet know about! The solution, rooted in the science and mathematics of formal Axiology, solves the problem for a fraction of the cost of current efforts AND helps make people smarter and wiser at the same time.

We have already achieved demonstrative proof-of-concept.

Our next step is to raise the necessary funds to fully develop the solution and get it out to the world, in part as open source, in keeping with our “for benefit” mission.
